Teignmouth is a small port on the south coast of England, at the mouth of the River Teign, situated between Exeter and Torquay. The principal imports are animal feed and fertiliser for the Devon farms, and blast furnace slag from Port Talbot, South Wales, used in the making of breeze blocks. Exports are ball clay and china clay used in the ceramics and pottery industry from the Bovey Tracey basin, about six miles inland. These are taken to Finland, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Egypt. (Chris Cheetham)
